Damp and cool is not ideal for the muscles, but still, with less wind, lower air pressure and greater rider fitness, out of the 24 participants with earlier 2009 OTT 15km times, 1 tied and 21 improved upon their previous season-series best. Congratulations to Hermann Kerckhoff for setting a new database record for the 70-79 year old category tonight. Avery Burdett, at only 11 seconds slower tonight, is now in 3rd place in this list. We can expect further improvements in the VEM category times spurred on by the good competition between these two men who have often been quite close in time over the years. You can click here to see these results with the current OBC age handicaps applied. As well, congratulations to the 12 who tied or improved upon their previous personal bests tonight. This year is the first year of competition of these 12 men in the OTT series (though we have an earlier ABC 15km time for Yves), so further improvements are almost a certainty.
